ABOUT THE ROLE
The Farm Labourer is a key contributor to the daily flow of the operation, working closely with the Farm Manager and a committed team to ensure everything runs efficiently. This hands‑on role involves operating and maintaining equipment, supporting crop production, and taking on a wide range of general farm tasks. The ideal candidate is a true go‑getter, someone who stays busy, takes initiative, and communicates clearly. They bring a strong willingness to learn and the ability to anticipate what needs to be done, stepping in confidently when the Farm Manager is unavailable. These qualities help the entire team thrive and keep the farm moving forward.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate and maintain large farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, combines, sprayers, and other essential assets.
· Support all stages of crop production, including seeding, spraying, harvesting, and related field operations.
· Perform general farm maintenance and repairs, applying mechanical, carpentry, welding, and other practical skills.
· Communicate clearly about production goals, daily tasks, safety expectations, and housekeeping standards.
· Maintain consistent coordination with the Farm Manager and team members to ensure smooth operations.
· Identify, report, and help resolve equipment issues, damages, or breakdowns promptly and accurately.
· Keep accurate work records, logs, and documentation as required.
· Conduct routine and seasonal equipment maintenance, including preparation and winterizing, to ensure reliability.
· Follow proper grain storage procedures and maintain accurate inventory and quality standards.
· Contribute to a safe, efficient, and positive work environment through responsible actions and teamwork.
· Participate in ongoing training and skill development to support continuous improvement.
· Uphold all industry, safety, and environmental compliance requirements with initiative and accountability.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Proficient in English (required)
· Mechanical aptitude: experience in carpentry, welding, or small trades is an asset.
· Experience operating large farm machinery preferred.
· Previous farming experience preferred.
· Honest, communicative, and proactive in bringing forward concerns.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
· Willing to learn and participate in on-the-job training.
· A valid driver’s license is required.
· Valid Class 1A driver’s license preferred or willingness to obtain (financial assistance available).
· Must have own vehicle, farm trucks available for work use.
· Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
· Physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs. and working in confined spaces or at heights
