About the role

Reporting to the Education Manager, the Education Shuttle Driver plays an important role in supporting student success by providing safe, dependable transportation to and from Port Renfrew Elementary School each day. In this role, you will complete morning pick-ups and afternoon drop-offs, and remain available during school hours to support field trips, special events, and other education-related transportation needs as they arise. You will also take pride in keeping the vehicle clean, safe, and road-ready - ensuring all required safety checks, maintenance routines, and transportation regulations are consistently followed.


This ongoing position is part-time most of the year, and – due to field trips and events – full-time during the Summer months.

What you will do


As the Education Shuttle Driver, your key responsibilities will be to:  

  • Safely transport students to and from school each day.
  • Pick up and drop off students at designated locations as needed.
  • Be available during the school week for additional transportation needs such as field trips, school activities, or other education-related transportation.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students while in the vehicle.
  • Ensure all vehicle safety standards and transportation regulations are always followed.
  • Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the Education Coordinator.
  • Ensure the shuttle vehicle is kept clean, fueled, and in good working condition.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Education Coordinator regarding schedules, student needs and any incidents.
  • Follow all Pacheedaht First Nation policies related to safety, student protection, and transportation.


Lived and learned experience we are seeking

To be the successful candidate for this position, you will have/demonstrate:

  • Relevant Experience: Sufficient driving experience to safety transport children and youth, including in a rural/remote community setting; experience working with children or youth is an asset.
  • Safety Awareness & Practices: Strong commitment to safety and responsible driving practices.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate respectfully with students, families, and staff
  • Reliability & Professional Conduct: Reliable, punctual, proactive, and able to maintain a consistent schedule.
  • Licensing & Regulatory: A valid Class 4 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Compliance & Screening: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Certifications: Valid First Aid Level 1.
