ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Hosper Mortgage is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead the finance team, oversee transactional processes, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This is a leadership position responsible for guiding and developing a dedicated finance team, with the opportunity to drive process improvements and contribute to the company’s growth as it expands.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Supervise and mentor a small finance team.
- Lead the month-end close process for multiple entities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate.
- Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and submit monthly and annual regulatory reports in compliance with industry standards.
- Step in to handle transactional tasks during staff absences or periods of high volume.
- Maintain high attention to detail and follow up on discrepancies, resolving errors independently.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and fund accounting principles.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve accuracy within the finance function.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and other departments to support business objectives and provide financial insights.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks and Mortgage Automator to manage financial data efficiently.
- Support the professional development of team members through regular feedback and training.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including automation and development of standard operating procedures.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or ACCA designation preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a high-volume, transaction-heavy accounting environment (preferably in fund accounting, investment, or lending).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and fund accounting principles.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Mortgage Automator, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
